I received a BFA from the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) department at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

My experience includes teaching positions at Harvard University and design research at the MIT Media Lab. In December 2003 I was a visiting lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts University and in January 2004 I completed a one-month media arts residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

RESEARCH:

My current research focuses on media and cultural production in Southeast Asia. Current issues explored in my work include memory, popular media, war & tourism, exile and transition, language, and narrative. I have relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to continue my work in these areas.

PROJECTS:

Gitmo/Satchmo (art performance) was presented at the 2004 Gwangju Biennale and the 2004 Performance Art Congress in Seoul. In July 2004: Joined the Orange Lounge, a new media resource by the Orange County Museum of Art. In May 2004, NetVideoLab, a multinational video art project funded by ArtNetworkAsia. In March 2004, "body frame/video frame", a video installation was installed at L'Espace in Hanoi, made possible by the Alliance Français. In January 2004, as a part of a media arts residency in Thailand, I began research on a project on media power in Southeast Asia. Tentatively titled "fact, fiction, faction", the 2003 burning of the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh and the politics of the avian flu operate as launching points. A presentation was given on January 30 in Chiangmai.

In December 2003, ProjectOne was established. As an early prototype for an art group in Saigon, a handful of artists collectively participated in several exhibitions, performances and a public contemporary arts panel discussion. These artists are currently exploring creative expression in video, installation, film, sound art, and experimental performance and theater. Members will perform at the Seoul Performance Art Congress in September 2004 and New York in 2005..

Between 2001-2002, I had participated in several MIT-affiliated projects and courses including Krzystof Wodiczko's Interrogative Design Group and workshop, a video project under Joan Jonas, and a film by Sung Hwan Kim.

A short interview on MIT's OpenDoor speaks to the ongoing relationship between the MassArt and MIT communities. There is also a multimedia profile on artbeats.org. Article in in Tu?i Tr? (Tet 2004 issue)
